what the dilly?
so what has everyone been up to lately? Any good news with anyone??
I've been pretty good :) I had a TON of fun (ok well to be honest it really was a lot of work but it's fun to LOOK at now that it's done haha) designing papers for Prima the past week. I actually did them on my own time versus at work so thats why I've been totally MIA. but...they are done! And we got the prototypes printed and I loooooooooooooooooooove them!!! I wanted so badly to snatch them and bring them home with me hehe. I don't think they will be at CHA this time around though...but who knows, maybe ;) and it's too soon right now, but I will for SURE show some sneaks when I'm able to.
Other stuff....did you hear about the new copyright law that senate is trying to approve? It's called "The orphan works". Originally I was told and thought that this law would make all artist copyrights void and that basically anyone could take anyone elses art and claim it as their own. I was furious when I heard this! How could they even justify a law like this? What benefits would it provide other than giving deliberate permission to steal? I was totally outraged...TOTALLY. I followed a link that gave me the option to write to congress regarding the act and since then I have received responses from two senators (I'm sure it was a copy and paste deal lol). Both explaining the same thing. I'll spare you the legal terms that they wrote, but basically they said that the act would allow someone to take someone elses artwork (artwork of course is defined in lots of catagories--clip art, fonts, media designs, paintings, drawings etc) only AFTER they have tried their best to search for the owner of said artwork and cannot contact or find them. Basically people would be required to search for the owner and only then if they are not successful, will they be able to take it and use it. So, if you upload something into a gallery (a photo gallery, an artwork gallery etc) then you should have nothing to worry about because clearly....it's YOUR gallery and is attached to your profile (typically).
So this is what I got from the senate letters back...what do you think? I just have this feeling that theres something they are not telling me. The little fine print is what is bugging me right now. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Oh, and I'll be in Texas for a business thing on thursday and friday next week :) I'm excited...it's my first business trip!
I'll be back to post some eye candy this weekend :D
hugs, Adrienne
HI Adrienne! Yeah, something sounds awfully fishy with that!!
Also, will you be doing another "Floating Scrapbook"?? I missed this one!
Hope you are having a great weekend! Thanks for all the inspiration!

Hello Adrienne-
I'm a lurker normally on your blog but I just have to say I really enjoy visiting to see what you're up to! I'm still pretty new to the blog thing so mine is evolving as I find my "voice". ;-) So fun stuff for me? Hmmm, my husband is in Norway for two weeks and my kids and I are excited to see what adventure stories he brings back to us in the form of pictures and video ... 'nuf said ... -Melinda

i got the same letters from my KY reps.
but my question is what constitutes "their best" when referring to trying to obtain permission?
and don't forget.... this will include photographs too.
i think is still sounds fishy.
