Epson R1900 review
I spent quite some time testing this bad boy out. I printed for a couple weeks now to give you a super accurate review, and so here it goes :)
Lets talk about the gloss optimizer technology
Epson also claims that with the R1900 you get deeper blacks. This new feature is thanks to a new ink cartridge catered to just that (matte black cartridge). I tested this out with several pictures and even compared the pictures from previous printers and yes it's very true that the blacks are much richer. Actually I don't think you can get any blacker lol.
and now for the most important part :)
so folks, I would 100% recommend this printer. My aunt has one now too (I'm persuasive eh?? lol) and she's going to give me her side of what she likes about it since she looks at printing from a different perspective- I'll keep you updated. And if you have any questions about this one please by all means email me...I would be more than happy to discuss a feature or enlighten you on it's awesome-ness :)
hugs, Adrienne

You wrote the review in November 2008 --I don't see an update from your aunt. I have read so many reviews, either extremely positive or extremely negative, about this printer. Do you still like it now - in May 2009?

You must not have gotten the R1900 Lemon verison of this printer. I've had this unit for about a year now and have had nothing but problems with it. It's cost me time and money, and have had to contact Epson many times. This unit doesn't even come close to the R1800 which served me well until I ran it into the ground.

I'm glad I saw your review today. I just ordered the Epson r1900 for $499 with a $150 rebate and $35 shipping. That's the best I could find, new and not refurbished. I'm excited about this printer(my wonderful Canon i9900 died this week.) I've read that Epson printers are the best so I'm switching!!!

Awesome review! I bought the RX595 after reading your write up & have to say that I'm "in love" with my printer. I had prints done at Target a week before my RX595 arrived & later printed duplicates to compare. The quality of the Epson prints were way better. Now I can hardly wait until I can afford to upgrade to the R1900. Thanks for sharing your printer wisdom. :)

And how is the scanner function or has he not? Personally, I have an Epson DX 8400 and I'm frankly not happy about that. In particular scanner function and that he don t accept all paper, not even the transpartant sheet ( HP did it!) And you make great creations! Grtz Kirs from Holland

Went to amazon and reviews are divided 50/50... the main reason being that it sucks up so much ink.
What do you think Adrienne?

WOW -
What a great review.
I have the Epson 1400 and am very happy with it.
Would love to upgrade but for now I'll just stay with what I have but it's good to know that I can count on Epson the next time that I am looking for another printer.
Thanks for your review.

How is this printer on ink consumption. I got an HP (free) which is a thorn in my printing flesh! I had a Canon which I loved and had worked out the color variations and adjustment but then DIED. Once I had an Epson which was the best ever but when I upgraded my mac couldn't find a driver to keep it going (and had some problem with printhead plugging up if I didn't use it regularly). So I appreciate your opinion. Thanks

Oh man! I so wish I had it in my budget to buy one of these puppies! I got the Epson RX595 after your AMAZING review on that, and I'm still raving about how great it is, so I totally know that this one would blow me away as well. Thanks for another great review :)

Oh, and I just did a quick check online and found that at Epson's website: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?oid=63073901
after $150 in rebates and free shipping, it's only $399.99-and that's without shopping around!
